As a fully remote team, we’re always looking for fun ways to stay connected. Our bi-weekly team calls cover the usual suspects — org-wide updates, project statuses, business goals, and the like. But once a quarter, we like to mix it up with a little team bonding. Past activities have included:
- Jollity Jeopardy — Uses the typical answer-question structure of Jeopardy but with Jollity-specific topics! We'll take 'Jollity Taglines' for 1000, Alex!
- Jollity Team Member Trivia — Celebrate a team member's work anniversary with member-specific topics. Now, Hannah's dog's name is...
- Jackbox Games — Multi-game packs made to be played online with small groups. 'Cause who doesn't like a little murder mystery during the workday?
- Pictionary — Just as entertaining online as in-person, plus bonus points for having to draw with a computer mouse.
Last month, though, we wanted to do something a little different…
As many of you know, our fierce and fearless leader, Lauren, has been out on medical leave to focus on her health and family as she battles cancer and works toward remission. Behind the scenes, we’ve been supporting her efforts by designing, developing, and hosting the Rise for Lauren website (riseforlauren.org). But we wanted to show our support in a more personal way, too.
Lauren’s supporters recently launched a t-shirt fundraising campaign through Bonfire, and we jumped in right away — outfitting the entire team with Rise for Lauren shirts. We then coordinated to wear them together during a team call to show support and unity. After taking care of a little Jollity business, we snapped some photos and recorded a team message to share with Lauren. The rest of the meeting was spent playing trivia and fostering the team culture that Lauren built. It was a simple but powerful way to let Lauren know that even though she’s not in the day-to-day mix right now, her presence is felt here at Jollity every single day.
We’re so grateful to Lauren for building this incredible team, and we’re proud to rally around her during this difficult time.
